Workshops with Sara Sparrow
We are welcoming the founder of Sparrow Studios, SARA SPARROW, back to the studio on May 25th for some Static Trapeze workshops! Find out more by reading the descriptions below.
Contemporary Tricks and Dynamics
Saturday, May 25 11am-1pm, $50
2 hours, includes 30-min warmup
In this workshop, we will explore a range of momentum-based movements that are best-suited for static trapeze (although many will be accessible with a single-point bar). These movements include rolls, flares, beats, and continuous circles, and the ways these movements may be strung together in dynamic sequence. Skills will be selected according to student interest, but could include: elbow rolls, hip rolls, armpit beats, cutaways, release tricks, drops/twists to ankles or armpits, tricks from pullovers. This workshop is suitable for intermediate leveled students and up, and will be too challenging for those without a solid pullover, straddle up, full body beat and bell beat. Familiarity with front hip circles is recommended. Students are advised to bring protective layers for hips, elbows, and armpits.

Creative Movement and Intro to Dynamics
Saturday, May 25 1-3pm, $50
2 hours, includes 30-min warmup
In this workshop, trapeze students with some experience will begin to explore the world of dynamic movement and transition, including various beats, rolls, and simple releases. We will also learn a segment of choreography that features compelling direction-changing movements, to get students thinking in new, creative ways about movement on and around the bar. Most movements will work with both static and single-point equipment. This workshop is best suited to students who can straddle up to and pullover the bar with a beat, have a solid front balance, and are familiar with basic static trapeze vocabulary.
