Kids Class Levels and Descriptions

Intro to Circus: Ages 7-12. For those who have never taken a circus class, or who haven’t taken a circus class at Sparrow Studios in the last year. In this class we'll cover aerial silk and trapeze, tumbling and acrobatics, object manipulation, and character work and clowning. Once students have completed one session of Intro to Circus they can continue to their age appropriate continuing student group the following session.

Trillium: Ages 5-6. This class is a mixed circus arts class that covers aerial silk and trapeze, tumbling and acrobatics, object manipulation, and character work and clowning.

Fireweed: Ages 7-9. Must have taken one session of Intro to Circus. This class is a mixed circus arts class that covers aerial silk and trapeze, tumbling and acrobatics, object manipulation, and character work and clowning.

Aster: Ages 10-12. Must have taken one session of Intro to Circus. This class is a mixed circus arts class that covers aerial silk and trapeze, tumbling and acrobatics, object manipulation, and character work and clowning.

Yarrow: Ages 7-12. By instructor permission only. This class is for any student who has taken Intro to Circus and is interested in aerial arts (silks & trapeze) specifically. This class will focus on aerial skills as well as strength and flexibility exercises to improve endurance in the air.

Lupine: Ages 7-12. By instructor permission only. This class is for students who have completed several sessions of the aerial focus class at the yarrow level and are interested in continuing their aerial skill development. This class will include a stronger focus on strength and flexibility exercises as well as sequencing and act creation.

Skunk Cabbage: Ages 7-12. Is your kiddo creative? Constantly goofing off and putting on shows in the living room? This is the class you've been waiting for!  We'll work on developing stage presence, comedic characters, learn different clown routines and give students the opportunity to create their own! In addition to clowning we'll have time for games and learning/honing jugging skills including diabolo, flowersticks, and balancing objects (peacock feather on the nose and more). This class will culminate in an informal 30 minute showcase during the last class of the session.

Teens 13 and up are also eligible to enroll in our adult classes; more information on those can be found on the Adult Classes tab.
